Transforming actions in respons to Gods calling
Testimony of Okun
We are going to start off with some basic background story. Okun grew up in Canada, with roots from Sudan. Actually her parents were refugees from the war happening back then. The war brought a lot of trauma, and then caused abuse, addiction to alcohol and ended with her dad, being deported from Canada. Her mom was then a single-mom, struggleling to keep things together as a family. Even with a catholic background, they struggled to recover from the different traumas through out the years, intensifing anxiety, and loneliness grew. At fifteen, in highschool, another big event happened. Her mother died and left Okun with feelings of not being enough, not getting the much needed accept from surroundings. Broken, full of anxiety and a deep rooted orphan heart, Okun was guided towards bad relations, addiction to drugs, drinking and a chaotic world with suicidal thoughts. After some time at twenty years old, she got introduced to the "new age" movement. Quickly explained, a witchcraft kinda religion that believes there is no right or wrong ways in the spiritual world, and draws inspiration from the occult scene. With a lot of build-up trauma over many years, covid hit in 2022, forcing isolation from people. Right there, in her apartment. Anxious, broken, with nothing but herself and her thoughts, crying her heart out, thinking no one was listening. She looked up, begged to be healed, refreshed, wanting a new start. A very simple prayer, with a very powerful respons from God. Okun experienced instant healing, full of joy and felt like taking her first breath in twenty-some years. "Am i going mad?" A very impactful encounter, made her curiosity grow for Jesus. Balancing her new experience with Jesus and new age went sideways, thinking, once i turn christian, life will become better in an instant. A religous clash from expectations brought her to a mental hospital for 3 weeks. Coming out, on the other side, she opened her bible for the first time, read a random page which mentioned how bad and dangerous witchcraft is for us people. Getting rid of everything, being connected with new age. Growing in faith, falling in love with the bible by herself, fasting on the word of God, she wanted to start coming to church. Quickly getting friends and hearing about a christian organisation called YWAM (Youth With A Mission). Ending up giving all her belongings away to obey Gods calling. Getting confirmed in doing a discipleship school in Mazatlan, Mexico, transforming her life and slowly breaking the orphan spirit to pieces. After 5 months of DTS and secondary school she finally felt like a cloud lifted from her spirit and recognized Gods love for her. A nine month intense bible school, made her feel more free, than ever. A overwhelming feeling of joy. Now after 2 years of full focus on Jesus, she is on her way back home to see family and spend some time the Lord. Excited for what is next for her.
